The sun came out today and with it, the people. You see all the regulars of course, the dog-walkers like us who are out come rain or shine for the love of their animals and the hardened cyclists in their aerodynamic gear, racing against themselves to be faster than last time.
But today, on the warmest day of the year so far, the paths were crowded with people. And sure, that’s got to be partly because we’re in lockdown and walking outside is one of the few things we can do, but we were in lockdown last week too in the wind and rain when the paths were deserted!
Sunshine makes all the difference in the world!
And the whisper from Papa? His Son shine also makes all the difference in the world.
When the sun comes out, people are drawn from their cozy comfort zones, even on days like today when they still need to wrap up a little because it’s February and the sun isn’t that strong yet. No matter how much stronger it might get as the year goes on, the light from the sun still warms spirits and lifts souls right now today.
And that’s a picture, a whisper, of what the Son does.
And what you and I do when we step into each new day reflecting the light of the Son to the people around us. God-helping us of course, this is never about will-powering your way into being a reflection of Jesus.
Instead, the closer you get to the Son, the more His love and joy can’t help but stick onto you. Just like how impossible it would be to avoid the sunshine on a glorious sunny day, hang around the Son for a while and you’ll find Him catching on!
