Love is all you need

Today’s Holy Spirit Love Note:

Love is all you need because I am love and I, ultimately, am all you need. And your understanding of who I am to you needs to expand because I am all you need in the widest possible context.

Who am I? I am love in community. I am others-first, self-giving love. I am never giving up, always looking for the best in others love. I am patient, kind and always forgiving love. There is so much about me that you tend not to focus on but if I am to be all you need, it’s important you understand what you’re stepping into.

And as you step into this life with me, your love for others will start to shift, as will your ability to let me love you. You cannot love from an empty vessel. Loving others starts from a place of fullness. Full to the top with my love, me pouring into you so that you can feel loved, yes and so that you can be a conduit to pour into others. In this way, love really does make the world go round.

But please don’t run away with the idea that love is always focussed on hearts and flowers and rainbows. Love is beautiful of course and love is fierce and powerful. There will be occasions when your love for someone will invite you to fight for them, whether that’s simply through talking to me about them, what you would call “intercession” or through speaking up on their behalf to another.

The real key to loving well within the context of any relationship is to do so in tandem with me. When you love with the ears of your heart open to hear me, I can share with you what someone needs. I’ll give you the words when words are needed and help you to hold your tongue when silence is the best medicine.

All of it begins and then flows from within relationship with me because I am love and love, ultimately, is all you need.
