Today’s Holy Spirit Love Note:
You can always hear me. I am never far from you. I’m closer than the air that you breathe. I’m not always saying what you expect me to say but I am always speaking. And I’m not limited in the ways I communicate with you. The conversation you have with me in your head is just as valid as the words you write with me, the dreams you dream with me or the words that leap out at you in a new way from the pages of scripture.
It’s time to look again at how we do life together. You don’t need gentle music or a certain kind of lighting to talk with me. Music is beautiful of course but there’s no checklist of pieces that must in place before I’ll communicate with you. I want to talk to you. Why would I put barriers between us or require you to jump through hoops. That makes no sense at all!
The most important thing you need in order to hear me is desire. Seek me and I will be found by you. I’m not hiding myself away. Sometimes you don’t hear me because of competing noise and attention but coming back to me is as simple as saying, “hello”.
And those parts of your day that have felt like wasted hours, what if we redeemed, reclaimed that time? There are occasions when your body is engaged in a task but your mind is free to roam. Why not ramble with me? Your mind is our playground. There is so much fun we can have together in your mind!
This isn’t about “checking out”. I’m inviting you to be even more intentional, more present with the people you do life with. But what if you stopped filling every single moment with noise? What if you stopped some of the inputs and instead played with me? You don’t know what that will look like but I do. I can show you. I would love to show you! Do you want to play?
