You don’t need to have your eyes closed or play a special piece of music to hear me speaking to you. Instead, to really do life together in the way you do life with your best friend, this is about recognising that I’m always with you, always ready and willing to chat with you, and that can happen even in the middle of a crowd.
You don’t have to make a drama out of it. What if you simply paused, stilled your heart and allowed yourself to really hear me?
Remembering of course that I’m with you in all your conversations too. That great idea you shared or the solution you uncovered as you were speaking were both from me. This is less about declaring, “thus saith the Lord” and all about revelling and enjoying and appreciating our connectedness.
Those pieces that are challenging are also a great reason to talk to me. Think of each challenge as an invitation, an invitation to reject independence. Reject independence and recognise that you were created to operate best from within your relationship with me. You’re not meant to play on your own so stop trying!
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10 NIV
